On January 11, 2024, Gordon College hosted the Practicum 2 Orientation at the College of Computer Studies' Function Hall. The orientation served as a crucial milestone for students on the cusp of graduation, providing insights into the upcoming Practicum 2 experience. The event featured valuable perspectives from industry professionals, specifically Honkai Subic Corp, shedding light on the expectations and roles during the On-the-Job Training (OJT) period.


  1. Reflections on the activity give rise to (learnings):


The orientation marked a significant moment in our academic journey. The insights shared by Honkai Subic Corp gave us a glimpse into the practical aspects of our future roles. Understanding the expectations and responsibilities during the OJT period clarified the relevance of our academic pursuits and motivated us to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application.


The comprehensive session on Practicum 2 provided a roadmap for the upcoming months. The time and effort required for a successful practicum were emphasized, reminding us that while the road ahead might not be easy, it is a critical step towards our graduation. The presence of faculty members, coordinators, and our Dean added a sense of importance to the occasion, symbolizing the collective support and guidance available to us.





  1. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learning):


The orientation served as a practical guide, outlining the experiences we should seek during the practicum. The emphasis on building a diverse set of skills, meeting deadlines, and fostering a proactive attitude has instilled a sense of responsibility. The knowledge gained from Honkai Subic Corp's presentation has equipped us with a better understanding of the industry landscape, enabling us to tailor our skill development accordingly.


As graduating students, we now comprehend the significance of the practicum not only as a requirement but as a transformative phase that will contribute to our readiness for the professional world. The orientation has prompted us to approach our practicum with a sense of purpose, striving not just to meet expectations but to exceed them.

    The Practicum 2 Orientation was impeccably organized, providing a well-structured and informative session. The inclusion of industry insights added a practical dimension to the event, enhancing its relevance. 


The presence of faculty members and the Dean showcased the commitment of the academic community to our success. The group picture taken at the conclusion of the event encapsulated the collective journey of resilience and dedication. It served as a visual representation of the solidarity and shared sense of achievement among the graduating students and the academic community.



  1. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities:

For future orientations, incorporating interactive elements, such as a panel discussion or a Q&A session with alumni who have successfully completed practicums, could provide additional perspectives. Furthermore, providing a detailed overview of the practicum expectations beforehand might help students come prepared with specific questions and concerns.


In conclusion, the Practicum 2 Orientation was a moment of relief and anticipation. The realization that we are on the cusp of completing a challenging four-year journey was both gratifying and motivating. As we embark on our practicum, we carry with us the knowledge, support, and encouragement gained from this orientation, propelling us towards a successful conclusion to our academic endeavors at Gordon College.

Database Developer - SQL Server/T-SQL/Database Migration

Event Title: “ Database Developer - SQL Server/T-SQL/Database Migration ” I. Details of the event/activity I started May 29 and finished May 30, 2024, I completed an online course on Udemy about database migration using Oracle SQL Developer. The course covered how to move a database from Microsoft SQL Server to Oracle. It included topics like setting up a migration repository, connecting to the old database, checking the current database state, converting the database to Oracle, translating SQL objects, creating scripts for the new database, and moving data to Oracle. II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings): As a student, the course for me is informative but challenging. I also learned the importance of checking the current state of the database before starting the migration process, this is to avoid affecting what's in the live database.
